Information
The Fairfax Lake Campground is a large campground located next to Fairfax Lake.
This campground underwent a significant renovation in 2010. The number of campsites in the campground was reduced from 36 to 27; this allowed the remaining sites to be more private and less crowded.
The road is normally accessible by 2-wheel drive. However, in the spring during wet weather, Highway 47 can be rough and a 4-wheel drive or a vehicle with high clearance is recommended. FRMA provides firewood free of charge.

How to Get Here
When travelling west from Edmonton, at the first set of lights coming into the town of Hinton, turn left (Switzer Drive). Follow Switzer Drive for approximately 1 kilometre to the next set of lights (Robb Road). Turn right. Robb Road is an active logging/hauling road. Drive with extreme caution (please review our “Exploring Managed Forest Lands" section). Follow the Robb Road (also known as the "R" road) for approximately 50 kilometres until the junction with Highway 47 (at the town of Robb).
Turn right onto Highway 47, and follow this road for approximately 10 kilometres, until Highway 40 is reached. Turn left onto Highway 40. Follow Highway 40 south for approximately 35 kilometres. There will be a sign on the left indicating the turnoff to the Fairfax Lake Campground. Follow this road until the campground is reached. Alternatively, if you are travelling from Edmonton, you can turn left (south) onto Highway 47 just west of Edson, and follow this road until the junction with Highway 40 is reached, then follow the above noted directions.
The map above shows approximately where the campground is located.
