Forestry Opportunities

Healthy, thriving forests are at the heart of our business. Our teams of forestry professionals are deeply committed to healthy and sustainable forests and the responsible stewardship of forest resources.

We offer forestry positions in the U.S.—where we maintain 100% certified responsible fibre sourcing—and in Canada, where our managed forest area of approximately 8.2 million hectares of public land is 100% sustainable forest management certified.

Our forestry roles span multiple disciplines, including silviculture, planning and operations, biology, environmental management, land use, survey and mapping, GIS and more.

Trades Opportunities

Skilled tradespeople—including heavy-duty mechanics, millwrights, electricians, instrumentation mechanics, sawfilers, benchpeople, pipefitters and welders—are essential to West Fraser’s operations. These roles form the backbone of many of the 50+ communities where we operate.

We believe in hands-on learning and promoting from within. Alongside in-house training, we partner with educational institutions to expand access to trades education and industrial certifications for our employees.

West Fraser is also committed to growing the trades workforce of the future. We collaborate with schools and training programs to enhance education quality, build capacity, and remove barriers—creating greater access for underrepresented groups, including women and Indigenous Peoples. By fostering a more inclusive talent pipeline, we aim to build a workforce that reflects our communities.

If you’ve completed a pre-apprentice or foundation trades program, West Fraser offers exciting career-building opportunities, including paths to apprenticeships at our operations.

For those just beginning to explore trades, starting in an entry-level role can be a great first step toward securing an apprenticeship and building a lasting career with us.
