West Fraser Receives APA Safest Company Award
We were recognized by the Engineered Wood Association (APA) as a winner of its 2023 Safety and Health Awards, receiving the award for companies with four or more mills. The awards are the premier safety award program for North America’s engineered wood products industry.

With the goal of reducing injury and illness rates, the award program promotes and recognizes operational excellence. The award win reflects the efforts of our engineered wood mills in both Canada and the U.S.
Congratulations goes to each of our mills with a special nod to our Cordele and Huguley OSB mills, which helped lead the way with both accomplishing a 0 TRIR in 2023.

“Congratulations goes to each of our mills with a special nod to our Cordele and Huguley OSB mills, which helped lead the way with both accomplishing a 0 TRIR in 2023,” said Troy Withey, Corporate Safety Manager.
“So far in 2024, our North American OSB segment is at a 21 percent decrease in rolling average and has also decreased its serious injuries by 40 percent in 2024. This shows a continual improvement for this segment and helps set the bar of the entire company,” said Troy.
Seventy-three APA member-engineered wood product facilities participated in the 2023 program.
“We take pride in our members’ hard work and dedication to improving worker safety each year,” said Mark Tibbetts, APA President. “It’s crucial that as an industry, we advance and adopt best practices to ensure our workplaces remain as safe as possible.”
