Woodlands Operations Supervisor

Reporting to the Woodlands Operations Superintendent, the Woodlands Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day harvesting operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant execution of operational plans while supporting West Fraser’s commitment to sustainable forest management.
You'll Do:
- Lead and supervise logging contractors and field operations to safely achieve production targets
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards, environmental requirements, and provincial forest regulations
- Monitor harvesting, road building, and hauling activities to ensure operational efficiency and cost control
- Coordinate daily and weekly operating plans with contractors and internal partners
- Identify and resolve operational challenges in the field in a timely and effective manner
- Maintain strong working relationships with contractors, First Nations, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Participate fully in West Fraser’s Safety Management System to support an injury-free workplace
- Support reporting requirements, operational tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
You Have:
- Diploma or degree in Forestry or a related discipline
- Several years of experience in woodlands or harvesting operations
- A registered Professional Forester (RPF) of Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation in Alberta (or be eligible and willing to earn this designation)
- Strong leadership and contractor management experience
- Working knowledge of Alberta forest practices, regulations, and safety standards
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency with MS Office applications; experience with forestry systems is an asset
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
