Rolling Stock Duties:

  • Troubleshoots repairs and services all rolling stock, i.e. changes tire, oil lubrication, air compressors, etc.
  • Services log crane’s air compressor as needed.
  • Performs weekly and quarterly Preventive Maintenance on equipment (log crane air compressor) and resolve identified issues/problems.
  • Performs monthly Fab Shop housekeeping PM’s.
  • Maintains air compressor room by servicing, cleaning, and/or repairing as needed.
  • Maintains quarterly vessel PM’s
  • Rebuilds and repairs Kiln carts as needed.
  • Maintains and repairs chainsaws.
  • Assist vendors (Big Red, Whitehead Tire, Simplex Grinnell and FM Global).
  • Responsible for parts ordered for rolling stock and fire system.
  • Maintains and monitors fuel supply by serving as the fuel station attendant.
  • Ability to observe a situation, correctly diagnose the problem, and implement a corrective action, with little to no supervision.

Fire System Duties:

  • Weekly FM Global PM walks through.
  • Fire system underground flush.
  • Yearly trip test with Simplex Grinnell.
  • Troubleshoots repairs and replaces fire bells.
  • Resets dry pipe valves when tripped.
  • Insures all fire system locks stay locked and valves are open.
  • Meets with FM Global Insurance Rep for semi and yearly inspections.

Other requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, with 2 or more years mechanical experience.
  • One year of experience in a manufacturing work environment or one year Wood Products or military experience.
  • Demonstrated math and reading comprehension skills and possess written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated pattern of safe behavior and adherence to plant safety, quality, reliability, and productivity standards.
  • Possess industry standard cutting and welding skills, use of torch, stick welding, wire welding, including understanding of cutting and welding procedures and safety.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of lock-out and hot work systems.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the maintenance work order system.
  • Be willing to acquire additional education / skills via continuing training courses as necessary, or required.
  • Own or be willing to purchase a complete set of hand tools in accordance with the tool requirement list within 60 days of job assignment, which includes incorporating a tool bag or belt to reduce time to respond to problems.
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
