Program Specialist (Early Career Opportunity)

Launch your career in a dynamic, customer‑focused role within the forest industry

If you’re a recent graduate with exceptional interpersonal skills, strong analytical thinking, and the ambition to grow into a future leader, this role offers the perfect foundation.

As a Program Specialist, you’ll collaborate closely with our Sales, Logistics, and Product teams to support and enhance key customer programs that ensure efficient, cost‑effective product movement from our facilities to our customers. You’ll gain hands‑on experience in program management, data analytics, and cross‑functional collaboration—while building a long‑term career path in a major North American forest products company.

We’re looking for someone who is curious, relationship‑driven, and eager to learn how our business operates end‑to‑end.

What You Will Do

  • Contribute to a collaborative team working to strengthen West Fraser’s Supply and Operations Planning (SNOP) processes and support margin optimization.
  • Use data analytics to track, measure, and present performance metrics for customer consignment and vendor‑managed programs.
  • Partner with Sales, Analytics, Logistics, and Product Management to maintain high service levels across all customer segments.
  • Help design, refine, and implement systems that improve inventory accuracy, program performance, and customer experience.
  • Build foundational knowledge of forest‑industry operations, product flow, and customer program management.

What You Bring

  • A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Operations, or a related field.
Bachelor Commerce graduates strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Interest or experience in the forest products, building materials, or manufacturing sectors—through internships, co‑ops, summer roles, or coursework.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data; experience with Excel (pivot tables, forecasting, scenario analysis) is an asset.
  • Curiosity about how products move through an organization and how customer programs are structured and supported.
  • Excellent communication skills, including confidence presenting in group settings.
  • A detail‑oriented mindset with the ability to manage weekly and monthly program tasks accurately.
  • A collaborative, proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience in leadership, mentoring, student clubs, athletics, or community involvement.
  • Additional language skills (Spanish or French) are an asset.

Why This Role Is Ideal for New Grads

  • You’ll gain exposure to multiple functions—Sales, Logistics, Analytics, Product Management—building a strong foundation for future advancement.
  • You’ll be supported by leaders who invest in developing early‑career talent.
  • You’ll work in a fast‑paced environment where your ideas and initiative are valued.
  • You’ll have a clear path to grow into roles in program management, operations, analytics, or commercial functions.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $70,000 - $83,000, may vary depending on education, and relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits: including medical, dental, and vision coverage, pension and saving plans, life, disability, and accident insurance, vacation time, paid holidays and additional benefits to support your well-being.

Workplace Location Summary:
