Process Engineer

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Cariboo Pulp is currently recruiting for a Process Engineer (Intermediate to Senior level).

Reporting to the Process Engineering Superintendent, the successful candidate will be involved in process monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.

You'll Do:

  • Monitoring process in assigned areas of responsibility, including process parameters for any deviations from KPI targets.
  • Defining and evaluation of process deficiencies by working closely with other technical and operating personnel.
  • Tracking production issues and process efficiencies in areas of responsibility.
  • Work with operations on troubleshooting process issues.
  • Developing and implementing solutions to problems.
  • Developing technical and financial analysis documents for executive approval on projects
  • Developing projects and supporting the project team as a technical resource, including the development and execution of post-completion audits.
  • Driving continuous process improvement; including optimization, cost reduction, increased capacity, energy/chemical usage reduction, and increased reliability
  • Leading teams formed to investigate root cause investigations as the process expert.
  • Liaison for chemical suppliers on a regular basis.
  • Lead Process Safety program in their areas.
  • Working with research facilities, consultants, and mill laboratory personnel to develop test programs to investigate mill issues.
  • Leading and supporting annual turn-around activities as the company representative, including contract cleaning.

You have:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and eligibility for registration with EGBC as an EIT or P.Eng.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in industrial settings with progressive levels of responsibility (as an Intermediate or Senior Engineer)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent skills in all forms of communication
  • The desire to progress, learn, grow, and succeed

Considered an asset:

  • Experience in the kraft pulp process

Compensation Package:

  • The salary range for this position may vary depending on experience, education, and location. The range is between $102,000 and $133,000
  • Annual bonus opportunity
