Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I)

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Ranger Board MDF, in Blue Ridge, AB is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I).

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role provides technical direction and frontline leadership to our E&I crew, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all electrical and instrumentation systems across the facility. This is a hands-on leadership role with a strong impact on plant performance, team development, and continuous improvement.

You'll do:

  • Champion a safe work environment by enforcing safe work practices, supporting company policies, conducting incident investigations, and ensuring proper training and adherence to electrical and instrumentation standards.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the electrical and instrumentation team, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Work closely with Production, Technical, and Purchasing teams to maintain equipment reliability and support operational targets.
  • Plan, schedule, and supervise E&I work activities, including work orders, priority setting, shutdown coordination, and emergency response.
  • Support and participate in maintenance and capital projects related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Collaborate with reliability personnel to support preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee instrumentation systems including sensors, control loops, calibrations, and documentation.
  • Contribute to maintenance planning, cost control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You have:

  • A Journeyperson Electrician or Instrumentation Technician trade certificate (Red Seal preferred), or an Electrical Engineering degree with relevant experience.
  • Experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
