Indigenous Community Engagement Coordinator

We are looking for an individual whose primary focus will be leading our consultation and engagement activities with local communities, specifically Indigenous communities. This position is based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, and relocation is available for the right candidate.
You’ll Do:
- Be the regional lead, for consultation and engagement
- Coordinate, develop and maintain progressive and positive working relationships with communities.
- Administrative lead for the Government of Alberta consultation process with Indigenous communities.
- Facilitate and support the negotiation and implementation of agreements that contribute to effective and durable relationships with communities and Indigenous peoples.
- Engage in effective communication with Indigenous communities with respect to divisional forest management and stewardship activities.
- Working with the Alberta Indigenous Relations Lead, develop and implement local community engagement strategies, including economic, employment, and training initiatives.
- Work effectively with Woods staff to ensure that commitments made are documented and fulfilled.
- Communicate regularly with corporate and divisional management to community engagement activities.
- Coordinate and participate in various community engagement activities and events.
You Have:
- 5+ years of experience in a related role.
- Post-secondary education, preferably in forestry, natural resource management, Indigenous relations, or related fields.
- Be highly motivated and team-oriented individual with strong strategic thinking and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in community and/or Indigenous engagement or consultation. Experience in Indigenous consultation would be an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in the drafting of agreements, policies, and procedures.
- Familiarity and good understanding of Indigenous cultures and history within the region.
- Knowledge and understanding of forest management practices and government policies and guidelines related to indigenous consultation and engagement would be an asset.
- Ability to travel and undertake occasional weekend or evening work as required.
