Forest Planner

Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Forest Planner will work individually and with a team of professionals responsible for all aspects of forest planning.
You'll Do:
- Develop harvest and road plans considering steep slope topography and incorporating tether harvest systems.
- Align design and layout with the approved FMP and DFO regulations.
- Contract management, contractor supervision, and coordination of road and block layout
- Consult stakeholders individually with interest groups, as well as through open houses and interaction with the public involvement group
- Liaise with government officials, prepare & submit digital data to provided standards
- Participate in optimizing data workflow efficiencies
- Expect 75%+ office work to address GIS intensive work requirements
- Incorporate wildlife, fisheries, environmental and economic values into harvest design
You have:
- Commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
- Self-motivated and team oriented.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Competency or aptitude in using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile apps
- Experience developing or supervising harvest and roading planning
- Demonstrated leadership in a group setting.
- Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta.
