Forest Planner

Reporting to the Planning Superintendent, the Forest Planner will work individually and with a team of professionals responsible for all aspects of forest planning. 

You'll Do:

• Develop harvest and road plans considering steep slope topography and incorporating tether harvest systems.
• Align design and layout with the approved FMP and DFO regulations.
• Contract management, contractor supervision, and coordination of road and block layout
• Consult stakeholders individually with interest groups, as well as through open houses and interaction with the public involvement group
• Liaise with government officials, prepare & submit digital data to provided standards
• Participate in optimizing data workflow efficiencies
• Expect 75%+ office work to address GIS intensive work requirements
• Incorporate wildlife, fisheries, environmental and economic values into harvest design

You have:

• Commitment to safety and responsible forest stewardship.
• Self-motivated and team oriented.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Competency or aptitude in using ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, ESRI mobile apps
• Experience developing or supervising harvest and roading planning
• Demonstrated leadership in a group setting.
• Possess a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) or Registered Professional Forest Technologist (RPFT) designation for Alberta.
