Electrician – Alberta Plywood Division
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
About the Role
West Fraser’s Alberta Plywood division in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a motivated and skilled Certified Electrician to join our team. This role is a key part of our continuous maintenance improvement program, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and safe work practices.
You'll Do:

Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.

Ensure reliable operation of all electrical equipment across the plywood facility.

Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on various equipment in collaboration with other trades.

Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (AB PLC5, Control Logix 5000, HMI).

Conduct VFD troubleshooting and programming.

Complete construction and installation projects as required.

Accurately verify and document work using computer-based maintenance software.

Support consistent product quality by monitoring processes and providing feedback.

Work at heights using lifts and fall protection equipment when necessary.
You'll Have

Valid Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal required if certified outside Alberta).

Several years of experience as a certified electrician.

Strong commitment to safety in the workplace.

Solid organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.

Understanding of process controls and instrumentation, including electric-over-pneumatic or hydraulic systems.

Flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays).
Assets

Previous experience in the wood products industry or other industrial environments.

Ability to collaborate effectively with other trades and team members.
