Electrical Supervisor

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Electrical Supervisor is responsible for ensuring safe and efficient electrical maintenance of the mill.  This position supervises a highly qualified electrical team, and utilizes related experience, project management expertise, safety, leadership abilities and a preventative maintenance mindset cost-effectively. 

You’ll Do:

  • Ensures effective electrical planning and implementation safely;
  • Ensures a high degree of operational readiness;
  • Supervises electrical and instrumentation departments to improve efficiencies and ultimately reduce cost;
  • Disseminates technical knowledge to hourly staff via coaching and in-house training to enhance the technical and troubleshooting skills of team members;
  • Leads safety-related inspections and training to enhance and promote the safety culture;
  • Assists in troubleshooting electrical, instrumentation, and control issues to minimize downtime due to equipment failure;
  • Sources and liaises with outside contractors;
  • Prepares proposals and oversees installation of approved improvement projects;
  • Monitors and evaluates the performance of installed improvement projects;
  • Oversees labour requirements for the electrical team, providing guidance, direction, mentoring and accountability;
  • Participates in regular safety meetings with the mindset that all accidents are preventable;

 You have:

  • Engineering or Journeyman qualification (Electrical) or equivalent.
  • Five plus years’ experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of industrial experience;
  • Prior proven experience as a supervisor and leader 
  • Demonstrative safety leadership with knowledge of safety procedures
  • High awareness of quality control practices
  • Experienced in the use of preventative maintenance systems to reduce unscheduled downtime
  • Experienced in troubleshooting methods to ensure that uptime, production volume, and quality targets are met
  • Can effectively use training resources to maximize technical skills
  • Very good team building and motivational skills
