Corporate Accountant

We are looking for a highly motivated accountant to join our corporate accounting group as an integral member of our finance team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, open to new challenges and have excellent communication skills and will have experience in accounting or possess a professional accounting designation (CPA) or be enrolled in the CPA program.

As part of the corporate accounting group, you will provide analytical and accounting support on a variety of topics, while learning and understanding all components of our accounting cycles. This is a developmental position with the expectation that the successful candidate will relocate within 1 to 2 years to one of our BC or Alberta operating divisions to further their career as a divisional Plant Accountant or Controller.

You'll do:

  • Preparation and processing of various month end duties including journal entries, financial statement packages, related mandatory reporting and general ledger reconciliations,
  • Detailed financial analysis,
  • Being a key resource with regards to adherence to standards and procedures,
  • Gaining exposure to various areas of our business operations including but not limited to, accounts payable, payroll, logging, sales, fixed assets and inventory,
  • Review of accounting working papers,
  • Participate in user testing and maintenance for financial business systems,
  • Summarization and Distribution of Daily Operating Statistics,
  • Ad-hoc projects as assigned

You have: 

  • A background in accounting
  • Well-established organizational skills,
  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Detailed and proactive approach to work,
  • A high level of motivation and energy,
  • Strong computer systems skill set.

Considered an asset:

  • A professional accounting designation (CPA) or enrollment in the CPA program,
  • Forest industry experience is preferred but not required
  • Oracle EBS or JDE experience

 What We Offer:

  • Competitive base salary with an annual bonus opportunity. The typical salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000, may vary depending on location, education, and relevant experience.
