Closing Date: June 12, 2025
As the Industrial Journeyperson Benchman, you will be a key player in our continuous maintenance improvement program through daily troubleshooting and preventative maintenance strategies. This includes sharpening and maintaining round saws, troubleshooting saw issues, and collaborating with mill staff in a safe efficient manner.
You'll Do:
- Maintenance of workplace and saw filing safety
- Achieving production targets & quality control standards
- Inspecting, maintaining, and calibrating precision equipment
- Adherence to filing shop quality control standards
- Troubleshooting and examining saws for defects
- Management of saw box water and lubrication
- Management of chipping systems
You have:
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently with little supervision
- Experience benching round saws (e.g. repairing, tensioning, leveling, tipping, sharpening).
- Knowledge of functionality, maintenance, and alignment associated with Canters, Trim Saw, Edgers, and Chippers.
- Ability to service and supervise all aspects of saw maintenance
- Understanding of preventative maintenance processes related to saw shop and sawmill machinery
- Technical understanding of the manufacturing and servicing of saws, guides, and chipping knives
- Schedule flexibility – as work will require day, evening, and weekend shifts
- Hold a Saw Filer certification and a Journey Benchman Trade Ticket.
