The IT Business Intelligence team is currently seeking a Student IT (Corporate) -Power BI for the period of July to December 2025. This position will be located at our downtown Vancouver corporate office. In this role the successful candidate is required to be in the office 4-days per week with the option to work from home 1 day a week.
About the Role
West Fraser’s Business Intelligence (BI) Team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student to support our data and reporting initiatives. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analytics, reporting tools, and business intelligence processes in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the development and testing of Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Support data gathering and documentation of business requirements.
- Help maintain and update existing BI reports and visualizations.
- Participate in data validation and quality assurance activities.
- Learn and apply basic DAX and SQL queries to support reporting needs.
- Collaborate with BI developers and business analysts on ongoing projects.
- Contribute to documentation of BI processes and user guides.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions and solution design.
What You Bring
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Interest in data visualization, analytics, and business intelligence.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Power BI (or willingness to learn).
- Basic understanding of databases and data structures is an asset.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
