West Fraser is seeking a Reliability Manager to report to the VP, Capital & Technology. In this company-wide role, you’ll lead the reliability strategy across multiple mills to drive uptime, safety, and cost performance. You’ll standardize practices, coach teams, and embed reliability into projects and operations.

What you’ll deliver

  • Refresh site-wide reliability standards and KPI dashboards.
  • Cut unplanned downtime through RCFA and defect elimination.
  • Optimize PM/PdM strategies and integrate reliability into projects.
  • Mature planning & scheduling practices (BOM accuracy, shutdown playbooks, work order flow).
  • Build a training roadmap for maintenance/reliability teams.

Your impact

  • Programs & standards: Own RCFA, lubrication, vibration, NDT, and monitoring programs.
  • Preventive & predictive: Refine life-cycle plans and embed reliability in new projects.
  • Coach & enable: Champion safety, upskill teams, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Planning & CMMS: Improve BOM development, work order management, and KPI reporting.
  • Capital & OEMs: Influence long-range plans and reliability-in-design decisions.
  • Collaboration: Support Canadian mills and align with U.S. teams on best practices.

What you bring

  • Experience: 5+ years in reliability engineering or maintenance leadership.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strengths: Maintenance strategy, RCA/FMEA/FMECA, analytics, project management, and leadership.
  • Systems: Skilled with CMMS and reliability data tools.
  • Mindset: Proactive, data-driven, collaborative, and improvement-focused.

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary: $146,000 – $173,000 (based on experience, education, and location), plus annual bonus opportunity.
