Reliability Engineer

West Fraser Grande Prairie OSB is seeking an inquisitive, action-oriented, and mechanically minded Reliability Engineer.  

The Reliability Engineer assists with the safe and effective implementation of the Preventative and Predictive Maintenance Program. Your efforts will improve mill operation through Root Cause Analysis reviews, proposing & implementing improvement plans and analysing data and historical information to develop optimal maintenance strategies.

What you will do:

  • Safety – Design, implement, and support proactive safety action items. 
  • Own and participate in all Root Cause Analysis reviews.
  • Oversee the life cycle program of process equipment to identify failure rates and failure modes – from which pro-active response plans are created.
  • Support the predictive condition monitoring program including lubrication, vibration, ultrasound, non-destructive (NDT) analysis of all process equipment.
  • Provide key engineering support for various Capital, Reliability and Maintenance projects.
  • Review downtime reports & equipment histories to identify trends and solutions for recurring maintenance issues.
  • Motivate a pro-active approach to preventative maintenance.

What you have:

  • BSc. Engineering Degree is required - preference for mechanical but other disciplines will be considered. 
  • This position is a great opportunity for an EIT.
  • Experience within a manufacturing / industrial environment is an asset.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude towards understanding machinery operation & maintenance
  • CAD experience in Solidworks, AutoCAD, and/or Inventor, doing modelling, stress analysis and fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management system would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated performance in key competencies including interpersonal skills, problem solving, integrity, time management, drive for results and collaboration.
  • Advanced communication skills - written, verbal and presentation
  • Solid computer skills including MS Project and Office Suite, with ability to learn internal process programs to support OSB manufacturing and safety protocols
  • Displays team engagement skills to encourage inclusion, participation, and effective sharing of ideas

Workplace Location: 

  • This position will be located at our West Fraser Grande Prairie, Alberta OSB facility
  • Although the work schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, flexibility is required to support our 24/7/365 manufacturing facility.
  • Grande Prairie, Alberta with a population of over 70 000 is less than 5 hours northwest of Edmonton in the “Peace Country Region”. GP is the ‘hub’ for northern Alberta, northern BC and the NWT; with infrastructure to support an additional 300 000 visitors.
