Purchasing Manager

At West Fraser, our Purchasing Manager is responsible for the timely purchase and storage of all indirect materials,
commodities, supplies, equipment, and services (including stores and non-stores inventories) for all site-specific
internal requestors. This position utilizes organizational abilities, a customer service mindset and attention to detail to
promote excellence as established in the Company vision, mission, and values.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Storeroom inventory replenishment: Verifying approved purchase requisition line demands against stores inventories,
thereby ensuring appropriate mill inventory levels are adhered to.
 Direct communication with maintenance Planner(s) on purchase order delivery statuses which involves expediting
materials to meet work order material requirements dates from the requester and managing back orders.
 Create RFQs (request for quote) based on incoming demands and award bids by entering information into CMMS.
 Directly manage the site’s RFQ, purchase order, and receiving processes including order discrepancies and variance.
 Negotiate site-specific purchasing and service agreements and assist in researching equipment, parts, and materials.
 Identify opportunities to enhance workflows/processes, vendor rationalization, and inventory level optimization.
 Audit vendor performance as per corporate purchasing agreements.
 Review and manage inventory lead times, min/max levels, and other replenishment-related master data in CMMS.
 Create new resource numbers and identify storage locations for new inventory.
 Perform filing requirements for invoice and receipt reconciliation.
 Research and identify price discrepancies from receipt to invoice and manage transactions with vendors.
 Collect data when setting up new vendors and supply applicable documentation to accounting.
 Serve as the central point of contact for accounting and suppliers regarding invoice/purchase order discrepancies.
 Manage vendor relations and details of lease/rental agreements for all equipment used on site.
 Oversee site vendors who fall under the purchasing domain i.e. Fastenal, Motion, Waste/Recycling, etc.
 Manage storeroom and inventory budgets as well as provide oversight to project budgets and parts.
 Manage corporate card expenses and report using company software.
 Other duties as assigned by site leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Eligible to legally work in the United States
 Possess a bachelor’s degree in supply chain/operations management or 5 years of inventory/purchasing experience.
 Experienced working within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
 Experienced managing direct reports and managing timecards.
 Possess strong computer skills including MS Office software, CMMS systems, and ERP.
 Ability to travel for training, meetings, or events. Must be able to travel via car and air when required.
 Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain the relationship between purchasing, planning, and accounting.
 Possess a strong understanding of process requirements and critical components required to keep the mill operational
and have the ability to meet strict deadlines.
 Be reliable by possessing consistent and predictable attendance behavior.
