Mobile Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Minimum basic skills and abilities for the position are as follows:
Must have minimum of three (3) years’ experience in Wood Products or related industry as a mechanical millwright, attend West Fraser Qualified Millwright Training, complete competency checklist per level, score at a Level 1 on the Millwright assessment, and have own tools
General mechanical working knowledge:
-
- Repair/replace/maintain, all mobile equipment parts as well as chains, sprockets, bearings, belts, gearbox, motors, etc.
- Metal fabrication
- Welding; arc, acetylene, and others.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic equipment
- Align and calibrate equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Hand Power Tools; drill, sander, grinder, band saw, etc.
- Construction/structural assembly.
- Measurements reading English/Metric; tape, caliper, ruler and other.
- Accountable for working safely
- Must provide quality workmanship.
- Must assign work and confirm completion.
- Direct and ensure quality work from contractors.
- Issuing hot work permits to meet AON guidelines.
General safety knowledge:

- Personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Lockout and Tag out.
- Fall Protection
Housekeeping:
-
- Maintain working area clean, shop, field area, vehicle and other.
- Keep working equipment/shop tools orderly.
