Maintenance Supervisor

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Blue Ridge Lumber is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor.

As a member of our leadership team, the Maintenance Supervisor will report directly to the Maintenance Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a high-performing maintenance crew, providing safe and efficient services to the division.

You’ll do:

  • Ensure a safe work environment for the Heavy Duty Maintenance department by enforcing safe work practices, supporting company policies, investigating incidents and ensuring proper training and adherence to maintenance best practices
  • Work collaboratively with the Log Yard, Forklift, Kiln & energy and Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) departments to effectively maintain equipment
  • Manage, schedule and supervise a crew, including work orders, priorities, shutdowns, and breakdowns
  • Manage all maintenance aspects of capital and major projects, including the crane
  • Work with Heavy Duty Mechanics to coordinate preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Initiate maintenance expense and capital budgets and oversee all maintenance costs

You have:

  • A post-secondary degree in mechanical engineering OR a valid journeyman trade certificate, with preferably 5-8 years relevant work experience
  • Strong leadership, planning, budgeting and troubleshooting skills
  • Well-established organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Outstanding team player and team-building skills
  • Excellent innovation and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of computer software and applications
  • The desire to progress, learn, grow and succeed
  • Forestry industry experience is an asset
