Linux Administrator
West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding careers. Our Systems Administration Team is currently recruiting for an experienced Linux Administrator.
In this critical role, you will be instrumental in developing, optimizing, and supporting our enterprise-wide Linux server infrastructure. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to system administration. This job can be located in Quesnel, Vancouver or Memphis.
You'll do:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust Linux server environments across the organization
- Enhance system security posture through regular audits, patch management, and hardening practices
- Optimize server performance, reliability, and scalability to meet business requirements
- Proactively monitor systems and respond to alerts, preventing potential issues before they impact operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support back-end infrastructure initiatives
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations and operational procedures
- Provide technical leadership and support to junior team members and other departments
You have:
- Advanced experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Oracle Linux, HP-UX, and CentOS
- Proficient in Red Hat OpenShift and container orchestration
- Skilled in Bash, Python, Ansible, and Terraform
- Experience with CUPS (Common Unix Printing System)
- Strong background in vulnerability remediation, security audits, and responding to penetration tests
- Proven ability to design, implement, test, and troubleshoot complex Linux systems
- Experience with VMware virtualization technologies
- Familiar with CVS and SVN version control systems
- Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, and GCP
- Exposure to DevOps tools and methodologies
- Post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years in enterprise Linux administration
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Collaborative and effective in team environments

- 100% Office-based
- May require some evening and weekend work for system maintenance and updates
