Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Mill General Manager, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for the full life cycle of employee relations including talent acquisition, HRIS, performance management, and maintaining an effective people management system that supports a diverse and inclusive environment.
What You Will Do:
- Manage full cycle recruitment of all roles.
- Coordinate disputes and complaints, with support from Corporate HR.
- Support the application, preparation, negotiation, and interpretation of the Collective Agreement.
- Assist with site investigations, including discipline, and bullying, violence and harassment.
- Ensure consistency on application of discipline, and prepare employee performance letters.
- Support leadership in implementing our ability management program.
- Oversee the attendance management program for all departments.
- Develop training, resources, and policies to address business requirements.
- Ensure we manage consistently within our West Fraser process.
- Provide sound and ethical business and human resources advice to management and employees.
- Support administration of the various benefits, insurance, and disability programs, as well as the management of pension funds, and the employee assistance program, in accordance with corporate HR policies.
What You Need to Be Successful:
- Post-secondary education with an emphasis in Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of experience and education is required.
- Capable of handling highly confidential information.
- Embraces West Fraser values, culture, and operating philosophy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Proficient computer skills, including the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience in various areas of HR, including safety, benefits, compensation, human rights, recruitment, performance management, labour law, unionized work environments, and training and development.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Comfortable in managing administrative files and understands that spending time with people in the mill is an important asset of the successful completion of your work.
What will make you stand out:
- A professional HR designation and 3-5 years of HR experience, primarily in a Generalist or Manager role in a unionized industrial environment.
