Director, Engineering & Technical Services - Western Canadian Operations

West Fraser offers a range of exciting career opportunities for individuals seeking challenging and rewarding roles. Our Western Canadian Operations division is currently recruiting for a Director, Engineering and Technical Services.

What You’ll Do

  • Support divisions with capital strategy, project development, and prioritization
  • Review and scrutinize project budgets; explore and influence alternative solutions
  • Collaborate with FP\&A on post-completion paybacks
  • Lead equipment selection and vendor management, including standards and performance guarantees
  • Work with regional/operations managers to deploy resources for complex problem-solving
  • Assist divisions in solving safety, operational, and reliability issues
  • Lead automation and process safety initiatives, including dust mitigation
  • Support root cause failure analysis and preventative maintenance programs
  • Assist with quality control, product mix strategies, and recovery challenges
  • Guide energy savings projects and resolve complex thermal oil plant issues

Who You Are:

  • Professional Engineering Certification in AB and/or BC preferred
  • Strong communicator, able to speak to large groups
  • Strategic thinker with a collaborative approach
  • Willing to travel as required by business needs

The annual salary range is between $170,000 and $206,000. In addition to base salary, employees are eligible for an annual bonus opportunity.

Work Conditions

  • This position is primarily office-based.

  • Flexibility is required to participate in planning sessions and change windows outside regular business hours.
