Accounts Payable Manager

The primary responsibility of this position is to build and lead our Accounts Payable (AP) team. Critical responsibilities include team management, implementing best practices, change management, compliance, and leadership.

What you will do:

  • Guide and mentor the Accounts Payable (AP) team to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions
  • Coordinate with business units and corporate teams to support AP processing activities, resolve issues efficiently, and support monthly deadlines and timely financial close deliverables
  • The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for maintaining key relationships and interfaces with stakeholders (including Operations, Accounting, Project Accounting, and Sales) outside of AP regularly to ensure customer focus of services
  • Support the ongoing development, implementation, and optimization of West Fraser’s finance operating model
  • Lead change management initiatives, advocating and implementing new tools, templates, and processes to enhance AP efficiency and effectiveness
  • Implement and support intelligent automation technologies for data processing, including OCR and scanning solutions
  • Overseeing the use of Concur for expense reporting and reimbursement, ensuring compliance and maximizing value through sales and tax reporting
  • Maintain and document robust internal controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and SOX regulations
  • Ensure audit readiness and support internal and external audit processes
  • Develop, monitor, and report on key AP metrics, early payment discounts, and terms overrides
  • Lead or participate in special projects as assigned, contributing to broader finance transformation initiatives.

What you will need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, or related analytical field
  • 5-7 years in Accounts Payable or related financial operations
  • Experience in Shared Services Operations, preferably in manufacturing or capital-intensive industries 
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of managing and developing employees 
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards)
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, invoice management, and payment cycles
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • A mindset for process improvement and efficiency
