Forest lands are managed to for many different uses – a “working forest” means more than an area to harvest, it is also carefully planned to incorporate tourism, sport, regeneration of forest stands, wildlife and other types of recreation and activities, like camping.
West Fraser's support of the organizations like the Foothills Recreation Management Association (FRMA) in Alberta is one way to enjoy the "great outdoors." The FRMA maintains a number of trails, recreation areas and campgrounds that can be enjoyed by anyone with a sense of adventure and the willingness to explore. However, exploring an area near an active forestry operations demands a little extra awareness and attention. See our tips for safe travel in the exploring managed forest lands page.
