Amendment 1 to FSP

Fraser Lake Sawmills (FLSM) has prepared an Amendment 1 to their Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) #652 for the Stuart Nechako portion of the Prince George Timber Supply Area (TSA).  This amendment is necessary to allow for the different practices that will be carried out on Agricultural Development Area (ADA) lands if a harvesting tenure is issued on them.

The ADA lands have been designated for agriculture use through the Order of the Minister of Agriculture and Lands establishing land use objectives under Section 93.4 of the Land Act for the purposes of the Forest and Range Practices Act on November 21, 2006.  Harvest by a forest licensee may only occur if there are written agreements with the local cattlemen’s association and they are accepted by the District Manager.

Amendment 1 places exemptions related to forestry activities on ADA lands in the following FSP sections:

3.7 Objectives set by government for wildlife and biodiversity – landscape level;
3.8.1 Wildlife tree retention;
3.8.2 Restriction on harvesting in wildlife tree retention areas;
3.9 Objectives set by government for visual quality; and
5.1 Stocking Standards – general standards

The public review period for this amendment runs from October 17 to 5pm November 16, 2018.
