Wildfire Updates & Resources

If you are affected by a wildfire evacuation order, keep in contact with your supervisor.

Please ensure you provide your supervisor with the following:

  • Your current personal contact information, including personal cell phone number

  • Alternate emergency contacts

  • If you have to evacuate, where you have evacuated to

The health and safety of all of our employees and their families is of paramount importance. If you need to address personal matters due to wildfire activity, do so and inform your supervisor. Please follow instructions of local authorities and take all necessary precautions. In the event that you are ordered to evacuate, register as an evacuee with your local emergency reception centre (immediate assistance for accommodations, food, medical or prescription support).

Employees Not Working Due to Wildfire Evacuation - Employment Insurance 

We cannot predict the duration of the temporary suspension of operations due to wildfire activity. We encourage you to start an Employment Insurance Claim by visiting any local Employment Office (Service Canada) or click here to file a claim online. Identify yourself as an employee affected by the wildfires and at the link you can find the specific reference number for your online application.

Red Cross

You may wish to contact the Red Cross to speak with a case worker if you have been impacted by an evacuation order. Financial assistance may be provided on a case-by-case basis, along with referrals to external supports as needed.

West Fraser Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP)

There is an EFAP 'hotline', a confidential counselling service for West Fraser employees and their dependents made available by West Fraser through Walmsley and Associates. Service can be provided via telephone or in-person as the situation requires.
