September 30th was the grand opening of the West Fraser Outdoor Discovery Park in Nordegg, Alberta. Nordegg is small mountain community located within the vicinity of our mills and forest management areas in Sundre, Rocky Mountain House, Hinton and Edson.

West Fraser donated more than $15,000 of treated wood products that were used in the construction of the community project. It is a visible opportunity to demonstrate how the forest sector actively contributes to many community values and benefits – social, economic, cultural and environmental – including the use of local, sustainable wood for construction!

The Outdoor Discovery Park includes a playground, a bike pump track, outdoor gym equipment, seating and relaxation areas, a boardwalk feature and further outdoor play facilities. It is a significant upgrade of an older public space on the same site.
