Industrial Mechanic (Millwright)

Quesnel River Pulp is a mechanical pulping process, yielding 1100 tonnes per day of bleached thermo-mechanical pulp. The process requires a suite of industrial equipment including refiners; fans and blowers; belt, chain, and screw conveyors; presses; pumps; agitators; and compressors. The Mechanical Department has a machine shop, maintenance shop, and rebuild area. We take pride in our safety record, our effluent treatment system, the quality of our product, and the cleanliness of our mill. We constantly strive to be an industry leader.

The successful applicant possesses an industrial mechanic/millwright trade certification. Additional cross-trades certification is an asset as well as willingness to broaden their exposure to a complete variety of mechanical work as required. Quesnel River Pulp welcomes job flexibility and enrichment: employees often develop new skills, work closely with other departments, and take responsibility for areas or systems.

Demonstrated competence within the trade, troubleshooting skills, and experience in any of the following is an asset:

  • Pulp and paper or similar industry
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Welding and fabricating
  • Precision maintenance training
  • Lubrication
  • Alignment and rebuild

The successful applicant will be required to work shifts when assigned. Attention to safety, quality, work ethic and efficiency as well as a valid BC driver’s license are necessary.
