MDF
West Fraser ships approximately 250 MMSF ¾" to
the North American and Asian markets annually. As MDF is
very sensitive to transit damage, particular care is taken
during shipment. The majority of shipments to North American
markets are moved via rail in box cars, in highway vans or
intermodal vans. Long length panels are shipped via flat
deck trucks using special tarping techniques to ensure proper
product protection. We use several reloads in the Western
US. These reloads allow us to be a "just-in-time"
supplier to our customers, while efficiently combining long
haul rail shipment with local truck delivery.
West Fraser also ships MDF products to Asian markets.
Due to the sensitive properties of MDF, we currently ship
to export markets by container only. These shipments all
move via the Port of Vancouver to customers in Korea,
Taiwan, China, and Japan.
