Blue Ridge Lumber/Ranger Board Bursary Program
Policy Statememt
Blue Ridge Lumber will make available a $1000 Bursary (or two $500 bursaries)
annually to high school graduates from the Sangudo, Mayerthorpe, Whitecourt area
interested in pursuing a career in the forest products industry.
Policy
To encourage local students in pursuing a career in the forest products industry
through the pursuit of a post secondary educational program.
Application
Blue Ridge Lumber invites applications from graduates of Mayerthorpe, Whitecourt,
and Sangudo high schools who meet the following criteria:

entering a post secondary education program that could lead to a career in the forest products industry, for example forestry, engineering or business administration; |

complete an essay providing specifics about the program they are entering and why they have chosen the program; |
 |
demonstrated involvement in extra curricular activities at school and/or within the community.

Application forms will be available at each high school office, and must be
completed and returned to the Chief Forester at Blue Ridge Lumber, no later than
June 1st of each year. A copy of the most recent academic transcript must
accompany the application and enrolment in a post-secondary education institution
must be confirmed before the award is granted.
The selection committee, nominated by Blue Ridge Lumber, will evaluate applicants
and determine the appropriate level of financial support. The selection
process will include consultation with the principals at the high schools from
which applications are received.
