  • Paper does not destroy the forest. The paper industry uses by-products of the forest: wood chips, treetops, thinning wood and waste, which would otherwise be thrown away or burned. The industry also gets its raw material from recycled paper and cardboard.

  • An average birch tree gives off up to 4000 litres (1050 US gallons) of water in one summer day.

  • A western Douglas fir can produce 1,800,000 seeds (123 litres 3.5 bushels) in a good year.
