Applications are being accepted for the position of Traffic Services Shift Supervisor.
Reporting to the Traffic Services Assistant Superintendent, the Traffic Services Shift Supervisor will
play an integral part in the successful operation as crew leader and maintaining high standards for
safety, environmental compliance, production optimization, quality control and equipment maintenance.
Duties will be varied and include all aspects of the Traffic Services Operations. Specific duties will
include:
- Responsible for in-bound fibre supply, storage/reclaiming, purchase chip, traffic movement within the
rail yard, hog fuel supply, shipping, materials warehousing and outbound production transportation
worldwide.
- Directs the Traffic Services Operations on a shift basis, to maintain maximum quality production in a
safe and efficient manner.
- Constantly seeks ways to control costs and improve efficiency within the mill while complying with
environmental regulations.
- Supervises shift crews in the application of approved procedures and policies within the Traffic Services
Operations.
- Actively participates in the mill safety program and ensures that all employees follow safe practice in the
performance of their duties.
- Communicates with the Traffic Services Area Maintenance to ensure that maintenance or repair work is
identified and carried out properly.
- Ensures the Traffic Services Crews are accountable and adequately trained for the proper performance
of their duties with a full understanding of their responsibilities. Identifies opportunities for training to
increase skill set of the team.
The ideal candidate will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Supervisory experience or equivalent pulp & paper process experience supported by strong and
effective communications and inter-personal skills. Pulp & Paper Technology or Power Engineering
certifications will also be considered an asset.
- Ability to interpret, prioritize and implement mill safety and environmental policies.
- Strong computer skills and able to learn quickly and efficiently.
- Strong mechanical/process background with technical and trouble shooting skills.
